2010-2011 season

The WEST OF SCOTLAND HIFI CLUB, formed in 1984 is to keep interested members in touch with new developments and technologies affecting sound recording and reproduction. This is achieved by lectures, demonstrations and discussions by people who are professionally involved in the recording, broadcasting and HIFI trade and industry. The WEST OF SCOTLAND HIFI CLUB also has a duty to provide fellowship among the members and guests, all who share common interests in this field. This is achieved by a social get-together after each meeting, which involves a visit to an hostelry in the area, followed by a meal in a restaurant.

All of the above arrangements shall be organised each year by one person called THE Chairman. He/she shall have the duty of organising venues, lecturers, places of interest and booking of restaurants etc. These shall be organised at least ONCE A MONTH from April to March although in April the AGM will be held and no technical arrangements shall be made for that evening. A recess during the summer months is normal practice normally including the months of June, July and August. This rule may be altered at the Chairman's discretion. A date in September mutually agreed by ALL members usually commences the season.

THE CHAIRMAN shall be elected at the AGM for the following year and may only stand one year at a time. No chairman may run for 2 years in succession. This is to keep interest within the club and to give everyone a fair chance to express himself/herself. If more than one member is interested then a secret ballot will be held. A subscription per visit per member shall be £2:00 to cover costs of postage, various newsletters, and literature. Any increase shall only be discussed at future AGM's. As from 26/9/86 any forthcoming members shall attend a mandatory 3 meetings as a guest before being allowed full membership. This does not however apply to existing members.
